Problem choosing language

Posted by Simon Marti at March 08. 2008

Hello

I have got a problem choosing tts-languages in tuxgdg. I've got the gb-english and the german language packet installed.

For example if gb-english is activated and I want to choose german in the settings menu, the entry for german (male and female) isn't available. The same happens with gb-english if I start with german.

I have figured out a workaround but it's rather inconvenient: I kill tuxttsd and restart it manually. After that all entries are available, but suddenly the inactivated language disappears again.

Is there somthing I can do to fix this, or is it a bug?

Thx a lot.

Simon

Hi,

I saw that in another post, you can only have 2 languages and one of them has to be us-english.

If you type language in the search box you'll find them easily.

Haden't seen that thread...

It's a pity that the Acapella license contains this anoying restriction! What if I like British English more than american Englisch?!

Anyway, thanks a lot for the help!

From what I know, you can only use one other language than English at the same time. So the other languages disappear as soon as you choosed one. That's totally fine to restart tuxttsd to change the second language you want.
For English, I don't know if Acapela requested that it'd be British, it's maybe possible to have American instead. That has to be changed by Kysoh as it's in the tts daemon. You can try to bother them if you absolutely want that. I'm currently in China right now so I can't help much.
