Can't run Gadget Manager on Debian Etch
Up to General discussion
Hi,
I am trying to get Gadget Manager working on a clean Debian Etch install.
I have replaced _DTW.so with the version recommended elsewhere in this forum, which has now allowed me to start the program - but 90% of the time Gadget Manager just hangs. Either with the "Firmware update" dialog box open (I have already updated the firmware via tuxup - so it is up to date) or on the main screen - most of the time the firmware update window opens but it is blank except for the title. I can't complete the Update Firmware process though tuxgdg as it hangs; I can normally cancel the firmware update window but then the application normally hangs.
I am trying this as root (although there should be no need to, as I have changed the udev permssions to give my non-root account the relevant permissions).
I have tried using Python 2.5 as suggested elswhere - but if I do, the app fails to launch as there is no pygtk package. Unfortunately I don't know enough about Python/GTK to fix this issue. Do I really need to run Python 2.5? If so, how do I install the pygtk libraries on Debian Etch?
It would really help to have a list of exactly what libraries are required, along with the version numbers. I can't find that anywhere on the site.
Thanks,
Dave
