Tux and Wifi

Posted by Larry Sybrandt at January 17. 2008

I think tux is interfering with my 802.11g connection.  Bandwidth goes down the tubes when the dongle is connected.   Anyone else experience this?

I have the same issue, moving the fish and tux away about 70cm cures most of the problems. What channel is your WiFi on ?

Thanks for the reply Michel.  I'll try moving it.  I'm on channel 11 (2.462GHz).

Hmm, interesting...

Which channels are affected by tux transiever?

There's a (old) post on this forum describing the issue. An alternative firmware was posted, it avoids one fo the wifi channels. IIRC the problem is that when the dongle is too close from your wifi antenna, the wifi captures a strong signal so decreases the input gain. Then you don't have enough gain to get your wifi signal any more. That's why moving the dongle away from the laptop helps.
