Troubles With Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron
Up to General discussion
Hello
I noticed a big trouble yerterday trying to re-install my Tux Droid on Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron.
I updated my system yesterday with the Alpha 5 of Hardy from Gutsy with the CD installer (note using the "update-manager -d" to have a clean system to test it correctly) and when I launch the Tux Gadget Manager, it says to me that i need to upgrade my Tux. Unfortunatelly The update failesd and the deamon are not started. I noticed that i have some troubles with Pulse audio too (No sound after that on my computer)
I hasn't test with alsa yet. I will do it tonight.
Maybe someone could help me ?

same for me. I can't get the deamons start automatically on Ubuntu Hardy. I tried http://www.tuxisalive.com/documentation/faq/how-to-use-the-daemon-or-tuxup-without-being-root but it doesn't help.
Any new idea ?
Also using Hardy here and indeed the daemons will not launch. You can only launch them manually as root. The problem is related to this I believe: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/udev/+bug/204108
For now what I do as workaround is booting my system with the old 2.6.14-12 kernel. But I keep my hopes up this will be fixed by the Ubuntu community sooner or later...
Just out of curiosity, since using Hardy I get the ubuntu startup sound trough Tux every time I plug the dongle. Someone else noticed this?

Got it worked !
The /etc/udev.rules/45-tuxdroid.rules installed by tuxsetup is for older kernel.
Unbuntu Hardy uses a new kernel, and the udev rules change a little. So, the /etc/udev.rules/45-tuxdroid.rules need to be updated in tuxsetup.
You can find mine enclosed to see the new rules.

I had the same problem on gentoo, didn't understand why udev didn't start my daemons since a while. Now it works again.
Now it's up to Rémi to integrate your changes in the next packages. I'm only taking care of the firmware.
Thanks for the email. I'm in China since one month, preparing the forthcoming production. We're quite busy and internet is quite slow here that's why I haven't been much following the forums lately.
