The idea:

A webportal for tux.

You can log into it and have a place to

* set up RSS feeds to monitor.
* Send messages to friends and have them delivered to his/her tux.
* configure email accounts to check for new messages.
* Random things tux "chooses" to do. ( blink, complain about the weather, e.d. )
* etc.

The data is stored on an XML file which your tux downloads once every 10 minutes or so.
A program on your pc parses the XML and animates tux as instructed.

The XML file is downloaded over an ssl connection that is password protected.

You can add friends, and both people do, you can send messages to the other persons tux.
Tux eye-lights will blink the number of waiting messages, a push on the head will play them.

New RSS feeds topics are read when they are found.

Random things are sometimes sent to tux as well. this can be turned on, off, no-sound.

I really like this idea as it makes tux more accessible for less-technical people as well.
especially the messaging function will make tux come to life,

Kind greets,

You say the voice doesn`t work. do you send the voice stream directly to the other tux,

or do you send text that the other tux reads on his/her own?

And yeah. if the portal thing hits off, we'd need all the help we can get :)

I make that :

>>>tux.deamon.connect('mylaptopIPAdress')
True

>>>tux.cmd.mouth_open()
( it's works)

>>>tux.tts.select_voice_fr_female()

>>>tux.tts.speak("hello thomas")

But text is not read by my tux.

Please check

http://www.tuxisalive.com/documentation/tutorial/tux-api-documentation/tts-class

You need to connect to the tts deamon seperatly

      1.8.2)    Function : tux.tts.connect

Connect tts object to tuxttsdaemon

Parameters:
"port" as integer : Tcp/IP Port number
(default = 5500)
"address" as string : Tcp/IP Host address
(default = 'localhost')

Examples:
>>> tux.tts.connect()
>>> tux.tts.connect('192.168.0.1')
>>> tux.tts.connect('localhost',5500)

Comment:
The variable "tux.tts.connected" contains the result of this method
