RSS feed reader
Up to Idea box
That would be nice with some RSS feeds that would be meant for TTS but that's barely the case. I must say I'm not that fond of TTS anyway. Like a lot of people I just skim through my RSS feeds as there's not much I really want to read completely. It would simply take too much time listening to all this with a TTS and would be very boring. Just imagine anybody reading a newspaper with TTS, that would take half a day
The same applies for emails, considering all the garbage I'm receiving, the long quoted replies, signatures, quotes and other junk, it's mostly impractical.
If someone wants to create RSS feeds with content for TTS, that would be great.
What can be nice imo is to have podcasts sent to Tux. If that's combined with an alarm clock function, you could use Tux as a radio clock which streams your favorites podcasts. I would really enjoy listening to CNET news every morning if all I have to do is push on Tux's head button when it wakes me up.
Just my 2 cents
Yup, using text to speech for RSS can be valuable for short mainstream news feeds (afp?), but i don't think it'll be very handy to listen to the droid talk 2 hours....
TTS could be great for "you have n new messages" type msgs, IM popups (sb is talking to U), VOIP calls (sb is calling you), etc...
Why no mention of festival? http://www.cstr.ed.ac.uk/projects/festival/

Incase you plan to replace Acapella with Festival,
count me in

Would it be possible to extend the rss feed reader in a way to let users make selection of specific tts voice for each RSS-feed?
I am subscribed to various feeds, some of them are german, others in english, so it would be very nice to have english ones read in english and germans in german. I know the translation feature, but I'd prefer them original.
