Hi,
I am trying your script but it not work. So I am transforming the script to work whitout «Tux droid XMMP/jabber» and like tux_pidgin.
The script is a draft, it is necessary test and complete.

Here's my working version. If you aren't italian, you have to change few line (37 and 46). It speaks what the people write to you and warn if somebody has just login.
I love the idea of my Tux Droid notifying me of incoming messages. Unfortunately I don't use Gajim but rather Kopete (it blends in nicely with Kontact etc.). Your script looks very elegant. However, I have no idea of the dbus interface involved (I'm not really much of a programmer I am quite ashamed to say). Could somebody please help adjust this script to Kopete? I'd really appreciate your help!!! Thanks so much in advance!
I did some experiments with the dbus-monitor which only proved that Kopete does not use dbus at all.
However, there's an option for customized notifications.
What's the easiest way to get the Tux Droid to say some text relayed to it via the command line? Some wing flipping might be nice as well.
