Up to Scripts
i wanted a script to emulate keyboard keys so that i can control application such open office presentation with the remote control .
As i did not find one , i wrote mine .
for the script to work you must install automatix witch is a software made to send keys stroke to X
her is the python script i use :
Hi Alex,
Xautomation includes xte wich is a small comand line wrapper for the Xtest API.
I'm looking to use Xtest directy from python for the presenter widget/application, you'll find more information about that on the wiki at http://wiki.tuxisalive.com/index.php/Presenter
If you want to control presentations, you'll find some interesting links too, keyjnote is really promising.

howaw so good with your script I can control kaffeine and freevo with my tux thanks !!!
How exactly can you do this?
I mean, it is easy to get an output on the shell when a remote key is pressed, but how do you link that to an action in lets say kaffeine, or vlc or something? Are there API hooks to call?
Thanks for your help.
