Hello everyone ! I'm about to be an owner of the Tux Droid and I've already checked out the great gadgets that have already been done. That being said I can't seem to find a gadget for reading mails on an IMAP server.
The thing is, I have made a small app that checks my mails on my IMAP server (see http://www.kde-apps.org/content/show.php/MX5000+keyboard+lcd+utility+for+mail+che?content=71139) and I'd be glad to adapt it so it could be used with Tux Droid. Maybe it would be even better to add it to the already existing mail gadget because it's only a few lines of python. So if the person that wrote the mail gadget would like to do this with me that would be great. I could of course try and make another gadget but I think it would be a waste of time.

Bonsoir forum ! Alors voilà, je suis sur le point d'être un heureux possesseur de Droide et en attendant de pouvoir m'amuser avec la bête j'ai fait le tour des gagdets. Mais je n'ai pas trouvé de gagdet pour lire les mails sur un serveur IMAP... Or, il se trouve que j'ai déjà fait un petit programme en python pour surveiller un compte IMAP (voir ici : http://www.kde-apps.org/content/show.php/MX5000+keyboard+lcd+utility+for+mail+che?content=71139) et je serais heureux de pouvoir l'adapter pour Tux. Comme il y a déjà un gagdet pour surveiller un compte POP je me demandais si ça ne serait pas mieux d'intégrer directement les quelques lignes de python plutôt que de réécrire un autre gadget. Ceci étant si ça n'est pas pratique ça n'est pas grave je suis prêt à refaire un gadget, d'ailleurs en reprenant le code ça devrait aller assez vite.

Ok so here I am... I finally gave up the idea of making a new gadget because I couldn't dive into the gadget code, too hard for me... So, instead, I made a little script (and posted a full description in the script section of the forum, you can download it here : http://snouffy.free.fr/linux/tuxdroid ). It's actually more than just a script to check for mails on an IMAP server, it also allows you to bind the remote to different actions such as playing scenes, controling amarok, increasing/decreasing volume... And one can easily add a module to it. Again, everything you need to know is in the proper section of the forum and in the archive with the script. If someone wants to adapt the code for IMAP mail checking he's more than welcome .

Me revoilà ! J'ai finalement abandonné l'idée de faire un gadget, c'était trop dur pour moi ^^. A la place j'ai écrit un script dont j'ai mis une description dans la "bonne" section du forum. Il ne permet pas seulement de vérifier si on a des mails mais aussi d'associer des actions aux boutons de la télécommande comme changer le volume, contrôler AmaroK, jouer des scènes, et on peut ajouter très facilement de nouveaux modules. Bref, je ne vais pas refaire de description ici puisque je l'ai déjà fait dans une autre partie du forum . Pour le télécharger c'est ici que ça se passe : http://snouffy.free.fr/linux/tuxdroid . Voilà, si quelqu'un a le courage d'adapter ce que j'ai fait, ou alors juste la partie "mail IMAP", ce sera avec grand plaisir !
