Weather Configuration Problems
Up to Tux gadgets
Hi all.
I purchased my Tuxbot about a week ago, and since then have been having alot of fun with its various features. I've been having a problem with the weather gadget, however; if I enter any value other than "brussels," the droid simply says it has a bad configuration. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong, as it is unlikely that it supports only one city. I live in the New York/New Jersey Area, and wondered weather there was any special code system.
Thanks in advance.
P.S.~ Has anyone had luck with the weather gadget outside of Brussels?

Hi Reece,
The weather gadget is using the weather forecast on the igoogle website to lookup the weather. I just had a look for your location and indeed for some reason "New York" is not accepted. But if you use "NY" it is working fine however.
This is something we can fix on the gadget side, because this is not very consistent. Other US cities like Houston or Portland work without having to look for a kind of short or city code.
Hope this helps, and thanks for pointing this out

Thanks alot; this is exactly what I needed! I hope anyone else who has experienced this will benefit from this thread.
Just to keep things up to date: if you are a resident of the US, simply entering a zip code configures the gadget properly. It's a little clearer than entering the two letter state code, since Tux simply pronounces that phonetically; "NY" is pronounced "Nye," which, to someone other than Tux's owner, could sound like "night," or nothing at all.
I'm having a weird problem with the weather app myself. I have the location properly set... but it always replies with "Bad configuration". I know that google will give the xml. Then again... if I try to get the weather for "Brussels" or "NY" it just says "Bad configuration" still. Is there something else I should be looking at?

Is there a good way to determine what works and what not. Amsterdam worked fine for me, but e.g. Eindhoven did not.
This despite the fact that Eindhoven does work on my personalized google start page.
